Decorative Gas Valve?

Not sure why my gas valve was installed so close to the face of the wall, but I have a problem with the decorative cover sticking out about 1/2" to far and it drives me crazy

I have searched for low profile covers but I dont think that will even solve my problem as the center of the valve protrudes out further than the wall itself.

Here are some pics, any ideas to make it look decent? I thought about just sticking some trim behind it but I was not sure if that would look out of place or not.

Decorative Gas Valve?

Nice piece of work that is. I didn't know Stevie Wonder did gas.
Why don't you call back the guy who did it and have it fixed?

Decorative Gas Valve?

Go to the plumbing store and pick up a chrome tube. They come in sizes 1 1/4"-2". They're used in drans under sinks. Cut it to length and put it in the space between the escutcheon plate and the wall.
