Crawl Space under house

I have a home in maine that has a crawl space instead of a basement.
Does anyone have any idea how to care for it?
Should i put in windows that open ( there are windows but they dont open)
how do i get rid of the musty smell...do i put something on the dirt to
prevent mold and weeds?
thanks

Crawl Space under house

If it is musty smelling, that means that there is no airflow down there.
