crawl space access question

We bought a 60+ year old home with a crawl space. A room addition was built prior to us purchasing that has it's own crawl space. There is an outside window that is approximately 18 inches wide & 12 inches high that cannot be opened. I'm assuming there is a trap door to get access to this crawl space but we don't know where it is. We pulled back the carpet in the closet hoping it would be in there but wasn't. Is there a way to locate (if it exists) the trap door without having to pull all of the carpet up?

crawl space access question

There are plenty of attics & crawl spaces that were built without access
No guarantee you will have one

Is there any plumbing in the crawl space ?

crawl space access question

shouldn't be-this room was used as bedroom when we bought it & still used as bedroom. single room addition on back of cape cod house. we are having major condensation in attic (going straight up the wall that joins the room addition to house) & was told to check if we have water in crawl space that could be getting into attic but can't get into crawl space to check if there is water.

crawl space access question

I had the exact situation. Old house + two new addition rooms. I thought I had no access to the second addition, but found a link recently in a hole chipped through the old foundation's cinder blocks. It was in a dark corner that was hard to get to, but that they ran heating ducts through. Follow the heating ducts...
