is this a copper wire?


Do you guys think this is a copper wire? Copper color on the inside, yet outside is silver colored. Is that solder?

Could be tin coated copper, I had some of that as SE in my house.

Based on the first picture where the copper shows at the cuts, it is plated copper wire.

Take a piece and start bending it back and forth several times. Aluminum will start developing stress cracks pretty quickly. From the pics I'd say it is copper though.

yea, its copper. Saw an electrician on the street, and asked, he said it was. Changed my service entry and panels, so have allot of copper wire, and will be bring it to the scrap yard to sell. Hopefully make a few bucks....Tell ya though, stripping all of this is a real pain.

i'm not saying you should do this, but i have heard that *some* people put their copper wire in a 55 gallon drum and *sometimes* a little diesel fuel causes it to burn all the insulation off so that the raw copper can be brought for recycling.

i wouldnt know anything about that.
