Construction/DIY How-To DVD Set?

Anyone know if there is any sort of DIY How-To DVD set or online video series or something like that about home construction/maintenance?? I'm pretty well versed in the trades, but I like watching stuff like that because I can usually extract some useful nuggets of information. I do a lot of remodeling and repair work (as opposed to new construction), so I think it would be cool to be taken step by step from the ground up. Thanks!

Construction/DIY How-To DVD Set?

Check on Ebay.
I think you would be better off buy a book not a video.
Faster to find what your looking for and you can take it right to were your working.

The book Modern Carpentry is a book often used in class rooms and covers just about anything you may come across.

Not really. Better to get involved with your local habitat for humanity, or local church that has a men's ministry. Books & dvds do nothing. Even the garbage on the diy channels are just that.

YouTube is loaded----many are so bad that a novice will really screw up a job if they follow the videos.

(I moved this to 'general discussion' as 'how to' is for instructional threads)

Or...."How NOT to"....

On a related note......I have been scouring those DIY video's on shower pans.....after watching many of them, I don't feel like I'm any closer to doing the task than I was a month ago....

One set of video's shows how to do a hot mop and touts the "This is the best way to have a long term shower".....and then another web site says "Hot mopping is old school and a thing of the past, use our method".

About the only thing I have concluded so far....I may not be doing hot mop....but even then I'm 60/40 on it.....

So to the OP....look at who put out the video.....if they are selling something....it will be very biased.....

You might be better off looking at old episodes of "This Old House"...

The ones ddawg, that they built Bob Vila a house on, or their GC's brother a house after it burnt down? As for hot mopping, it is a art form like Lead & Oakum, from a bygone era.

Whatever you do, don't watch that "Jobsite" show on the History Channel. I watched the concrete pour episode, and about had a psychotic breakdown watching all the stuff the announcer was getting wrong.

I've seen Jobsite I agree with Mort I would recommend buying books, DVD quality and they are not so detailed.
