Construction Adhesive

When you buy construction adhesive in a tube that you apply with a caulking gun, how do you preserve the unused portion or do you have to use it all in one shot?

They have those caps you put on top of the nozzle. I've had good luck with silicon or latex caulks, sometimes they would clog up and I just push a long nail in and that usually does the trick. However adhesives are different once they dried and cured along the shaft of the nozzle there is not much you can do. I even tried to wrap some saran wrap over the tip then push the cap down still no good.

Any tricks?

Gutter spike, or it's so cheap to buy just toss it.

I don't like that big of a hole in my caulk. 16d nail.

Never mind. I forgot we were talking about glue. You're right about tossing it (easy to say when you buy it by the case).

I put a screw or nail in it and then a strip of duct tape up one side and above it by 1-2" then back down on itself and down the other side and stick it to the tube and to itself on the sides of the tube.
