Condensation

I have a screened in deck ( 12ft. x 20ft.) which is covered in plastic for the winter. The fiberglass roof, to let in some light, drips constantly. Does anyone know if a humidstat will work in below zero temperatures.

Thanks

It would be like trying to bail out the Titanic with a tea cup. Every time someone opens a door it will just add more moisture to the air.

You have a warm air mass hitting a cold surface. The only thing you can do is to increase the distance between the moist warm air and the cold surface by putting in insulation.

How does a screened porch in below freezing temperatures get warm enough to drip ? Is there a source of warm moist air escaping from the house? Kitchen or bath exhaust fan? Windows open slightly?
How often do you go out the door to the porch? Is there snow on the roof?

He has the screens covered in plastic and the porch is attached to the house. This will keep in enough heat to cause these kind of problems. Even the slab it is probably on will keep enough heat in there to keep the place above freezing.

If he were to remove the plastic the problem would go away.

Snow on the roof would actually improve the situation. Snow is a great insulator. My life and the lives of others have been saved because of snow caves.

As the temperature rises so does the ability to hold moisture.
