Hi , some compression joiners have a copper olive , some a nylon one some rubber , which is better , ta......

The brass ferrule is for copper pipe, nylon is for plastic pipe, rubber not recommended.

Thanks for reply , had an emergency job , had to put on pipe caps , dribled with metal ferules , had a few rubber ones and ( walla ) , caps on tight no leaks , now gotta work out how to proceed tommorow.

Brass ferrules require more tightening pressure to finally seal tightly. I often grease the fitting with plumbers grease to allow things to tighten easier.

Rubber tends to harden and crack over time. In some places they work just fine, in some I prefer not to use them.
