Question

company inquiry

Do any of you know PowerHouse Remodeling company in Woodbridge, VA?

If yes, let me know what you think about them as far as their works and price.

They said that they are member of BBB (Better Business Bureau), but when I check the BBB site says that the information is unavailable. What does it mean?

When I asked them the company rep said that it is because no complaint filed against them yet. Is this true?

Thanks!

If BBB has had no complaints on this company, they will have no info to give you. Ask the contractor for references from previous jobs and follow up on those. Be sure to check and verify insurance and contractors license before you proceed. Any reputable contractor will be happy to provide this for you.

Correct, there is no info as there are no complaints registered with the BBB at this time

The BBB should, however, be able to tell you yes they are a member or no they are not

If they are giving you a run-around at the BBB, then there are probably issues with the member
The BBB is notorious for not reporting complaints when their customers complain

...the BBB's customers are the businesses that "belong" to the organization (they pay yearly fees)
The BBB are beholden to them , not the non-customers (you)

Every business can provide their info to the BBB for free.

http://www.bosbbb.org/reports/reliab...?FirmId=100429
This is what a report looks like with no complaints.

You should be able to look up a company by their name or phone number.

After reading more about BBB report, it doesn't really tell customers anything. It seems hard for a customer to submit a complaint.

It is just another selling feature for a company. It really tells nothing about the reputation of the companies specially if they are new companies.

Thanks for your inputs!

You seem to have a firm grasp of the BBB situation
