Cellulos Insulation falling from steel framing - Help?

I have cellulose insulation on steel beams that is falling off, is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

Are you talking about a commercial structure? What appears to be cellulose insulation on steel beams and other steel structural elements is very possibly spray fireproofing.
If you can post a picture that would help a lot.

If this is sprayed on fireproofing and has been there for more than 25 years, it could contain a high percentage of asbestos and is VERY friable.

Looks like spray fireproofing. If it is that new asbestos is not a concern.

Is it a residence or commercial property (apartment, office, etc)???

Not too many applications for spray fireproofing on red iron in a single family residence at all, that's why I ask. It could be some sort of attempt at sound attenuation but I doubt it.

Makes me wonder if there's a lot of vibration that is causing the insulation to fall away!

How about an over-coat of paint to bind it together!

OK on the age. No asbestos worries. If it got wet, it will degrade. If it was oversprayed, or dry sprayed it will flake off. It needs to remain at least an inch thick to be effective. If anyone is working around it they can brush some of it off. It's pretty fragile. Also, it's not cellulose like the insulation blown into walls. It does contain organic material though and will support mold growth if it gets wet.

Pretty safe to say it is fireproofing. You definitely need it, and the fire marshal will likely make you very aware of that fact next time he does his routine walk-through.
Look for a fireproofing contractor in your area to get it touched up or replaced where it is failing. It is NEVER a DIY job. You might contact the contractor that built the property to see who he used the first time around.
Honestly it is pretty much a bad idea to have spray fireproofing exposed in a structure where moisture, humity, people, ladders and other things can affect it.

There are steel fireproofing products made for exposed applications. Unfortunately, what you have isn't one of them.
