cut wood of choice to correct width make corner pieces to fit radius of track. install cleat around room i like a 1x3 with a ogee cut to add profile to bottom edge. install corner boards infill between with straight boards. support outer edge with all thread with all thread leg hanger cut to correct lengthto go through track board and put nut to hold level. you can sleeve the all thread with a piece of emt conduit cut to correct length and painted if desired. if worried about train falling off use gallery rails ( http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...5&site=ROCKLER )or something else if desired

Thank you for the detailed response. Do you happen to have a picture? I'm having difficulty visualizing the all thread.

This was a recent thread here discussing that. There are a few links within the thread worth looking at. Suspending model train tracks

Talk about an empire! You might look on eBay or post in the wanted section of Craig's List to see if somebody already has something built you can buy? It seems like forever but they do grow out of the phase. It could be worse though. The Thomas thing at least instills some good in kids.

You might post this on the woodworking sister site as well?
