cedar closet necessary? effective?
i'm remodeling an 1820s house.
customer is concerned about moths and wants to line one of the closets in cedar.
i don't know enough about moths and their reaction to cedar to know whether or not this is a worthwhile addition to the budget and schedule.
would the floor, walls and ceiling all have to be lined in cedar? just the walls and ceiling?
wouldn't the moths just come right through the cracks around the door?
or are they actually turned off by the smell of the cedar?
need some advice please.
Dunno, but it could double as a humidor. ;)
Cedar repells the moths that eat wool.
Usually the walls and the ceiling are paneled, but not the floor. Wouldn't hurt to do the floor also, but I've never seen this.
Any moths that get into the closet won't survive long.
Cedar is used in blanket boxes and chests also!
