Can someone tell me what this material is??

Hi everyone. I had recently posted about having fiberglass insulation for our kenmore dishwasher. We actually just ordered the replacement for this insulation and the manufacturer has changed it. The new insulation I dont believe is fiberglass, though Im not for sure, and it is not enclosed in any type of cover.. I just wondered if anyone could tell me what kind of material this is...

Thanks all!

Jen

No disrespect intended, seriously. But, why do you care so much about the insulation? Why does it matter so much to you?

I am just trying to find out some info here, not start an argument. Fiberglass is not good to inhale and is possibly carcinogenic.

Stick a small sample piece in your underdrawers, if you get an itchy or scratchy feeling you will know it's fiberglass. Please post your results!

I would suggest you ask the person that supplied it. The only thing I can say about it is it is white. It could be a polyester. It sort of looks like the stuff used for quilting.

Best advice! No one can give you an answer by a picture for this situation. That is like asking what chemicals are in this paint I just put on my walls.

Jeez. Why's everyone being such jerks in this thread? She asked a pretty simple question.

Anyways, 10 years ago the American Lung Association also thought that fiberglass could cause cancer. Studies since then have caused them to conclude that it doesn't present any real risk of cancer to humans. You can read about it more here if you want to. http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=35439

Funny thing is:

This is what it's like when we have clients that are engineers

= Every non-essential detail gets over analyzed - to death! ....
