Cabinets in Laundry Room

Hey everyone - I'm updating our laundry room and taking down the metal shelves and I'm going to install wall cabinets above the washer/dryer. To Install the cabinets on the wall - Should I just screw furring strips to the studs in the wall and then screw the cabinets to the furring strips?

Thanks for the help.

why not just put cabinet directly on wall and screw into studs?
