Buying this house...

Hi everyone,

My husband and I just purchased this house. We don't close on it for another month though. We're very excited because we got it at a good price because it needs major updating as you will see. Besides that it is a solid house. We're buying it from the original owners from 1957! We're very excited and we will post the "after" pictures once we update it.

Congratulations!
Looks great, looks like it's solid
That means more up-dating-type projects than fixer-up-type

Thank you very much! :) In our price range, my husband and I have only been finding fixer uppers. We don't like problems! However, this price was lower because it just needs updating. We'd rather have a solid house that needs updating rather that problems. Happy New Year to you!

I really enjoyed looking at your house photos! What a wonderful house! I see lots of potential! Is the furnace pink? (How strange is that.) It does look like you have a solid house. I'm glad you got a good deal! Happy remodeling and best wishes with your new home!

BTW...
Did you have your home inspected by a professional? This is a good idea with an older home.

Its a very nice house. Congrats are you keeping that stove? I love the look of it.

Thank you everyone for the compliments! My husband and I are very excited. Yes, the furnace is pink! This is very strange. LOL It is 15 years old and probably needs replacement soon so we're buying a home warranty.

We're having the home inspection this Saturday. We hope it goes well. As for the stove, no we're not keeping it. The first thing we're going to do is re-do the kitchen. After we take it out we're going to see if an antique store wants to buy it. :)

Nice looking house. Should be a lot of fun doing the updates. Does it have dual heating systems? I noticed the baseboard heat and you also have a furnace.

Thank you! I'm totally new to houses, so what is dual heating systems? The baseboard heating is all over the house in every room.

My last few houses have had furnaces, but they were not heated by "forced air", so I have (had) baseboard elements also
The furnace heats up water that runs through the baseboard elements, instead of the furnace heating air and forcing it through grates in the floor

Perhaps MD was expecting forced air grates and not baseboard elements because you have a furnace

Love the pink furnace. (lol)

Good Luck, and have fun updating the home.

Would love to see the "after" photos.
