Broken Drill Bit

This is my first post (I'm sure of many to come) as well. I've recently encountered this issue when installing a deadbolt on a closet door. I think my problem was the result of a weak drill; from what I could tell the bit got very hot turning and spinning without making enough progress and as it heated my slightest movement to the left or right (normal) was just enough to break it off in the wooden door. I'm going to look for the kit to remove the bit and hope that this works. Good suggestions!
