Best way to clean grout?
My wife and I purchased our first home in June and we took some sheet rock down and put up new, but we didn't cover the floors (hardwood). The grout is supposed to be black and in the room where we did the work, but it is now white. I tried cleaning it multiple times but haven't had much luck. When I'm cleaning and it's wet, it looks fine but as soon as it dries it's white again.
Photo is a pic of the grout w/ the white
Photo1 is what it's supposed to look like
Is there anything you can recommend that will clean that up?
Thanks in advance.
I need more info----that looks like prefinished wood flooring with a beveled edge---
It looks to me like the beveled edge was stained a dark color.
I never heard of a grouted wood floor---are you sure that is grouted and not simply a beveled edge?
If it's just a dark bevel---then some experimenting with stain might be the answer---Mike---
Hi, I think you're right. Looks like a beveled edge, not grout.
Do you have any recommendations of stain to use? Do you think I should try any more cleaning products before?
Get a small can of a dark stain---Jacobean or Special walnut---a small artists brush and a rag soaked with mineral spirits---
In a hidden spot--experiment---brush some stain into the crack--wipe away any that get onto the face of the board with the soaked rag--wipe dry with a clean rag---that should do the job--
Best way to clean it to stain it with best quality of wood stain.
