Best Surface for Indoor Balcony?

Now that the outside is done....I have one more thing to handle before the rains come.

This is my balcony.....

For the most part, it is covered...but we get some pretty good winds here in S California....translation, water will get blown onto the deck....below that deck is some inside living space....translation.....drywall. I don't want it to get wet for obvious reasons.

The plans call for Mer-Ko Shur Deck...I've heard I can also do hot mop (works in my mild climate).

One of the issues is that we don't want a surface that looks like your typical balcony floor....we are thinking that we would like to either tile it...or better yet use wood...much like you would find on the deck of a ship...

I know it would be expensive...but I would love to have a surface of Teak...

Ideas...suggestions?

I've never waterproofed a wood floor----I wonder if Schluter, Ditra or Kerdi would be acceptable for under tile?

Under a wood floor? Not sure---Roof membrane? Removable sections of wood would be wise--so servicing the deck could be done without demolition.

Its done here quite a bit, use TPO or EPDM or mod-bit roof membrane, the choice is yours, for the waterproof surface. Then these http://www.vikingroofspec.co.nz/cata...jack-pedestals to support your tile or wood surface.
Or use Deck-king membrane (from above supplier) as a finished surface. I think its a Canadian product so you probably have a supplier of these products in your area.

Could you build your wood floor in small sections say like a small pallet with 1x runners. This would make them removable so you could hose and clean under them or rebuild them if damaged. Use PT for the runners.
