Best place to buy 1.5 inch OD chome plated tubing?
Hi all,
Where's the best place to buy this stuff? McMaster? And I might eventually also need 2 inch OD chrome plated tubing. I suppose aluminum is what I want since steel is heavy and more expensive. Would aluminum wobble more when building a structure like this when pressure is applied, or is that more dependent on the OD? (mine will be taller and wider than this picture) http://redirectingat.com/?id=252X400...url3011498.jpg Let me know, thanks! |
What is that thing? You really need to explain the use as it's pertinient to the choice of rod.
Home Depot sells chrome plated closet rods. Don't know the diameter, though. Ron |
It's a drum rack. Anyone else have some info?
Thanks. |
pearl makes them with square aluminum, so i guess that's not out of the question, but i think i'd still go with steel. my rototoms are mounted to square tubing, but the rest of my drums/cymbals are all on steel tube.

Thanks DangerMouse. Do you know where I can get the 1 1/2 inch OD chrome plated tubing outside of Gibraltar or DW/PDP? I know they get their stuff in bulk from China. I'm thinking if I go through another supplier I'll be able to get them cheaper than by going through the drum rack part guys.

McMaster-Carr may be your best bet if you want to go with chrome or stainless steel.
but i think i'd consider black steel.... it'll blend in ok, and be LOTS cheaper..... and available locally.... DM |
Have you checked places that sells bar railing?

Thanks! I'll check the differences between that and black steel.
And I don't know anything about bar railing, so I'll look into that too. |
