The counters in our kitchen are made out of granite like material (I believe) that seems to stain easily. When water is spilled on the surface it turns dark brown for about 10 minutes then lightens back up to its original color. However, when some things (like olive oil in the pic below) are spilled they leave a mark. Do you know of a good cleaner to use on this? Thanks a lot.
Natural and synthetic stones require periodic sealing. If you notice water penetrating deep then it's probably time to reseal. Use a pentrating stone sealer and follow the directions on whoever's product you use.
The first step will be to clean your counters with a stone cleaner. If you have stubborn stains, use a pultice cleaner. Usually these come in a small plastic jar and require you to apply it, cover it with plastic and let it sit for 24-48 hours. The pultice will draw the stain out of the stone.
