Question

bathroom ceiling slopes, lighting ideas?

My bathroom is shaped like a barn...it is 12x9. The 12 foot walls go up 6 ft on one side then slope at an appropriate 45 until it meets the 4 ft flat section of ceiling, the other wall starts this at just over 5 1/3 feet, until it meets the other side of the ceiling. The previous owner has a short medicine cabinet (on the shorter side)...at 5`3 I have to bend to look in it...they did this to accommodate a light bar. I am taking it out and putting a taller mirror in the place of it. The ceiling now has a ceiling fan w/ a light (ceiling is 10 ft). Can I mount a track light on a sloped wall, or would it be better to just replace the fan with a light? My house is an 1890 Folk Victorian.

You need a light over the sink... use whatever will fit.
You need a fan... may as well use one with a light.

What other/additional light do you need beyond this?

Thanks for ideas. The room doesn't need an exhaust fan, it has high ceiling, large space ( code guy didn't say it did or recommend it). I will try to get a picture posted. The previous owners put everything on the same side of the room, claw foot tub, hanging sink, and toilet. Leaves very little workable space with that and the sloped wall, sloped wall follows the roof line. I did just take out the wall sink, and added a vanity last weekend...helped tons with storage! Old houses sure don't have enough of that!!

I had a customer with a sloping ceiling in there bathroom, and the builder install a ceiling mounted light.
It took an hour to get the ladder in and out of her bathroom every time I had to go change the lamps.
I finally talked her into a swag light, and dropped it about 8' above the floor.

Verify.
But even without a code requirement...all bathrooms need an exhaust fan.
And if you have one... it's just as easy to use one with a built in lamp.
Recessed into the ceiling or high on a wall... it'll be fine.

In many bathrooms... probably all until recently the only light fixture was the 100W bulb right over the sink and mirror. It still mightbe enough.
