Basement Reno

Going to renovate the basement...had a few questions

1) I was going to soundproof the floor joice area...any recommended product?

2) Pink insulation for the outer insulation?

You can fill the joist cavities with a soundproofing insulation like Roxul, then drywall the ceiling with 5/8" drywall. You can also hang the drywall on some resilient channel to reduce vibrations.

Yes, pink insulation R14 for the exterior walls...and don't forget the vapour barrier.

Another option is to have expanding foam insulation blown in the walls instead of the R14 Pink. Either will work. Just as important is the vapour barrier / waterproofing. If you have to cut back on costs, DON'T do it on this part. And make sure you put some sill gasket between the floor ands the sills. Water wicks through concrete and wood should never touch the concrete directly.

Good luck!!!!
