basement problem

My basement is going to be waterproofed on the inside. In order to do this the company must cut off the knotty pine wall 2 feet up from the floor. What can I do to fix this 2' of cement block that will be exposed? Above this area will remain the knotty pine walls. I hope someone will understand what I am talking about!!!

Welcome.Banana----I'm going to move this into the general forum--You will get more views there.

Banana---I suggest that you get a finish carpenter in there--or do this yourself--

Have the carpenter make the cut--at 28" or 32" --this is the typical height of a chair rail--or wainscot

After the water proofers are complete and the work checks out--

Get the carpenter back to restore the wall using the old pine paneling --with the scar hidden by a new chair rail.----Mike----

banana-why are you waterproofing on the inside? are you sure this is the best course of action. sounds to me like you haven't done all of the research.

If you want to reuse this wood, I'd remove it myself and not leave it up to the contractor.
