Basement Flooded ... help me rebuild!

Had a flood in the city and did get insurance for affected areas of sewer backup and contents. Total gut of basment and rebuild...

Had all the mold removed and sanitized and had the air ducts and furnace cleaned.

I was hoping to find out how i should rebuild the basement properly.

Things i have heard:
1) install mold resistant drywall in basement
2) replace old electical wiring and outlets with up to code stuff

Now this is where I get confused:
I have the pink insulation with plastic vapour barrier on the drywall side. Should I vapour barrier the cement foundation side - under the floorboard - and the drywall side?

What kind of vapour barrier is best...just plastic? And do I use the pink insulation again, or is there a better product?

What is the best product to use to hang drywall (ceiling) over your cold air return (which runs across the basement ceiling)...right now there is 2x4 and I want to raise it up.

Any other ideas are welcome...

Your questions are to to vague and open ended to give you any answers.

Post a few pictures, search the site for the easy answers.

Soffits around air ducts are often made with plywood and no framing---with a picture,I could tell you if that is and option.---Mike---

Should i vapour barrier the cement foundation side - under the floorboard - and the drywall side? fiberglass is one of the worst insulations around. Ubiquitous, yes, but not very good. In a basement, where you may get more moisture that upstairs, i'd look into cellulose batts or mineral wool (rock wool). You may do more damage than good w/ plastic (visqueen) vapor barrier against concrete block. Check out vapor retarding primer paint instead, as it lets the wall breathe to the inside. Read on greenbuildingadvisor.com, or buildingscience.com

Raise what up? What "product" are you looking for? Something other than studs? Sorry, but it won't compute in my pea brain.

Any other ideas are welcome... sure. Hire me and my skid steer to do something for you!

i had to type here to keep the computerized forum cop happy. J
