Basement Construction

Have a question, finishing my walkout basement and don't want to spend money on drywall and heard about wood plank walls, are these good to use and inexpensive or a waste of time?

Far more costly. Drywalls cheap.
Not a great idea in a basement due to possible moisture damage.

I wouldn't skimp here. Insulate and drywall will look and perform better.

For fire stop and draft stopping, you need the drywall---so that would go behind the planks anyway----decide on the look you want---

drywall, or drywall with planks over it----

You really can't get much cheaper than drywall if you are capable of finishing it yourself. And a basement is a good place to learn.
