Baseboard molding tiled in...
I recently purchased a home that has several rooms of floor tiled with ceramic tile. The tile was installed without taking out the baseboard molding, so now all the molding is "trapped" behind fairly wide grout lines [16-inch tile]. I want to remove the old molding and replace it with a different style that lands on top of the tile & grout. Is this advisable? I'm concerned that removing the molding will be difficult to do and the process will compromise the grout and, therefore, the floor. If I'm able to remove the old molding, should I regrout the edge of the floor? [I'm certain the tile is no longer available and I have no replacements.] I have looked everywhere and found no advice on dealing with this issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
