I would like to add a roof-mounted attic fan. I am quite handy (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, you name it), however I am terrified of heights. Is there any way to install an attic fan without having to climb on the roof? Does someone make a model that allows everything to be done through the hole cut in the roof?
Thanks in advance for any help!
P.S. - my house does not have gable vents, otherwise that would be the simple answer......
I see no possible way that you could install a fan in the roof without working ON the roof. Flashing, shingles, and general attachment would take place on the roof itself.
Are you trying to ventilate the attic itself or are you wanting an attic fan to pull outdoor air through the living areas of the house? If you penetrate the roof, plan on climbing up on it. You can install a whole-house attic fan without going any higher than the attic, but it won't ventilate the attic.
