Anyone know anything about AC units need help bad

My ac is acting up. The vents on the main level have no air coming out of them at all but my basement on the other hand is blowing out perfectly good cold air.

I have no clue really where to start looking and my 6 month old is not happy about our 95 degree house. If anyone could give me some insight on where to start id appreciate it.

I also posted this in the HVAC section i just need answers fast.

Lines coming off main trunks usually have damper flappers in them. They may be closed, diverting all air to the ones that are open. It is usually a metal handle coming out of the side of the duct. The direction of the handle indicates the direction of the damper valve. And air vents also have dampers, make sure they are open.

Besides the dampers in the duct work, diffusers usually have a way of limiting the air flow. Make sure that these have not been closed off.

eHow has an article about this! http://www.ehow.com/how_2074293_bala...-air-flow.html
