Anyone ever put formica over cultured marble?

Has anyone ever put formica over cultured marble? Not the preformed particle board counters but just the bare sheet formica. I've got an old bathroom vanity that works fine but the counter is this old ugly cultured marble. I'm looking for a quick temp fix and figured I could just pop the sinks out put a sheet of formica on top and an edge banding and be done with it?

Thoughts?

The only thing I would worry about is adhering the laminate to the marble. If you're going to all the work tearing the sink out. Why not the marble too and replace with particle board and then laminate?

Agreed. Getting the adhesive to stick would be the issue and why not just redo the countertop if you are ripping the sink(s) out. Will not be that much more expensive. One of the new stone counter overlay companies might be an option for you too?

Just replace the countertop.

Took the sound advice and tore out the old counter and re sheeted and banded with 3/4" ac ply.

Thanks,
