8' Glass Sliding Doors

I had a very noob question! I have a closet with no doors and I was wondering if 8 foot doors are actually 8' long? The height from the floor to the top of the closet opening is 7.5' and I need to know what the leeway is for those doors. If I order the 8' sliding glass doors at lowes or home depot will i be able to put them in. Any advice will be much obliged!

Standard height of most doors is 6'8" ( 80"). Most of the doors at your home center will be that height.

Doesn't the "8' " refer to the width?

They do sell 8' sliding doors. The opening to my closets are not the standard 80". I need to find out if the leeway is for the 8' doors. If anyone knows please advise! Closet opening height is 7.5'

On the packaging that is wrapped around the door ,they sometimes will give you the opening measurement requirements for the door. Look there, or get the manufacturers name from the wrapping and contact them for the opening size. You could also measure the doors in the store and see if they will fit your opening (with enough gap for smooth operation).

While 6'8" doors are standard, in some doors 7' (84") heights are also available.I am not familiar with the 8' doors and have never used them.
