Wrapping a 4x4
Just built a roof over my porch and used 4x4 post with the intent of wrapping later, I know i could of bought a sculpted post but wanted to create my own. My qustion is whats a good type of wood to use, I have 6 post to do so price would also be a concern as well, but something that would hold up to the Harsh elements of winter, But i would also be painting them. Thank you for your time..

actually no wood would be the best,id go with pvc atleast for the bases, post can be pretty tricky to wrap so they will be problem free for a long time

the 4x4s you have now can contain quite a significant amount of ''water'' in them and if your not careful can cause problems down the road

the thinking is try not to ''seal'' the post wrap because you probably wont be succesful but rather ventilate it so it has a way to dry
