Wood fence with steel posts gate question.

I am in the process of planning out my fence and have decided to go with steel posts and wood facing.

My issue is I cannot seem to find any info how you attach the gate to the post but still have the post wrapped in wood using something like the below.

If there is some other hinge or way I should research please let me know.

Thanks

Wood fence with steel posts gate question.

Why cant you just use regular chain link fence gate hardware?

check out the gate hardware section at your building supply, there are lots of options. the adjust a gate and ez gate systems works well for gates and has multiple options for attaching to posts

We talking a fence gate here or one wide enough to let all four of your Escalades, your truck, the wife, and your branded herd of cattle in at once?

How wide will your gate need to be.

Just your standard walk through gate. If you see above those brackets allow you to box in the metal posts with wood.

What i'm looking for is how you would do the gate post boxed in with wood.

P.S. I'm putting a rolling gate across the driveway

I would pour a sanitube or wood framed concrete base to anchor the post and to the dimension you want for the final look. Frame up to a collar you make to go around the top of the post and that matches the base, tapers, or whatever. Leave enough clearance in the collar so the steel post can move and flex on its own without touching or stressing your wood structure. Fix your wood siding to the framing. Stain or prime and paint.

Hardware should still be on the steel post. You can get plates with extended hinges just for this kind of thing. Or metal shop or blacksmith can make custom ones for you for not much money.

Treated wood for anything near ground of course. Or redwood or cedar.

I can diagram if this is not clear?

Just realized by link from the OP got removed.

What i'm looking to use is the Jaws II bracket from oz-post. I allows you to wrap a steel post with wood so the post of the fence are metal instead of wood.

I'm thinking I might just notch out the side of wood where the hinge will be attached to the metal post. Unless anyone has any other ideas.
