What would be the purpose of this "wiser post"?

Maybe a typo for "wider post"? s and d are right next to eachother?

Perhaps it's a brand? As in a post from the Wiser Steel Company, or a post from Wiser Woodworks, etc?

Perhaps he thought the current post was stupid, and you should choose a wiser post (as in make a smarter selection)?

No, I was offering serious suggestions. Since the OP is in Canada, I even tried to Babelfish translate 'wiser' from French to English to see if that offered a clue. I reread what I wrote and see now how it could strike a funny bone.
