:help: Could somene please tell me the differance between single hung & double hung windows? Pros and cons of each, which is best for the money.

I have like about 2 seconds left to respond to this before i get in trouble (dinner is ready) ...Go with double hung windows...

Single hung means that only the bottom sash is operable, double hung means that both the top and bottom sashes are operable( top sash can be lowered, bottom sash can be raised). This was a usefull thing pre air condition when the lower sash would be raised on some and the upper sash lowered on others to creat a natutral convection current, but I personally think the only advantage of double hung today is that the top sash can usually be tilted in, allowing the outside of the glass to be cleaned from inside the room.
