window tape??

fricandfrac Member   Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: minnesota Posts: 42	window tape?? Has anyone heard of a tape that window installers use instead of the caulk??? If you know what Im talking about, what method is better? Im not sure what the window guy was talking about. (This tape is not the flashing tape, It sounds like double sided stuff and he stating that its better the caulk?)

Just Bill Member   Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Wilmington, DE Posts: 3,097	window tape?? Window installer for 24 yrs, have no clue what you are talking about, unless it is flashing tape. That goes over the nailing fins on new construction windows, to seal against water and drafts.

After the window wrap, then after the metal flashing, it goes between the metal and the window. Randal Newbie   Join Date: Feb 2011 Posts: 1	window tape?? It's 2 sided tape that installers use instead of caulk. I'm sitting in front of one of those windows now and the shade is flapping in the breeze on a 6 degree day. I have double paned sealed windows too. Does anybody have any suggestions about caulking it? I work at a school and have a couple thousand to do.
