my question is how do you go about making a sill like that where it comes out? if its painted I could see paybe attaching a half round maybe? but what about when its stained wood? any directions out there on cutting single pieces to look like this or how to make a sill like that? thanks!

If you’re talking about the rounded edge, you do that with a router. For the rest you need a chop saw and a table saw.
