Window near front door?

I'm framing a mud room/foyer area and the side where the front door goes is only about 6' wide. I'd like to put in a 3' wide door and a window on that side. Is there any problem putting a window so close to the front door? As a practical matter, if someone is willing to break a window, they could already get in quite easily, so it doesn't seem like it should be a big deal. Thanks.

I can't give you a good picture, since it would look pretty much like an empty space at this point. Consider it more of a general question: Is there any good reason not to put a window next to the front door? I'd have to think the answer is no, since I see doors with glass in them, etc., etc., but I was wondering if anybody had any contrary thoughts. Thanks.

1. If the window is an integral part of the door, the header needs to be continuous across both, with 2 trimmers on each side, down to solid bearing.

2. If framing is between the two, and the window is 23" wide or narrower, only the door needs a header.

3.The window has to be tempered glass as per code.

4. Do you need the header sized, which framing is it?

5. This should all be on your permitted plans. Be safe, G
