Wider Joist Hangers
The wood used for framing in my house is very old (1911) and I've noticed that for any given existing dimensional size, the boards seem to run about 1/8-3/16" larger than what is typical these days. That being said, the standard joist hangers that you can buy are just a skotch on the small side. Does anyone know of a source for hangers that have slightly wider mouths?

Simpson makes hangers in a lot of differant sizes. They have some for 1 3/4" that would probably work for you it is designed for use with I-joists.
