Where can I buy a custom fabricated aluminum door cap?
I'm ordering a 96" x 80" sliding mirror door from Home Depot tomorrow. A
Stanley Model 350 I think. The higher end model with the roller bearings.
This is all in my master bathroom, btw. It will have one exhaust fan running
24x7 at low RPM to remove moisture from the room.
Anyways, before I install it, I need to get an aluminum cap for the area on
the floor you see in the pictures below. I'll probably glue & screw it in place? It
needs to be durable enough to be stepped on frequently.
This area is 2 each 2x4's stacked. So it should hold the weight
everywhere except the sides where I foolishly placed drywall.
1) Is brushed aluminum good for this or do you know of something better?
2) How thick should it be?
3) Where could I buy it from and how much should I expect to spend?
In this picture, it's been primered. But that top surface is otherwise bare 2x4.
I think you'll find a fan on low RPM won't be able to pull much air or push it very far.
I searched for "extruded aluminum". This may help you with your research.
Maybe just a angle piece to cover the front and top...you won't see the inside closet.
Well if you want it custom made for your application then you can choose the material you want. As per thickness, you will be walking/stepping on it I would go no thinner then 1/8’’ but that’s me. And to have it made just look for a local fabrication shop with a press brake and give them your specifications. As per the price, well it all depends on the material you want to use and how busy the fabrication shop is.
CZ...not sure I get it. What purpose does the 2x4 serve?
