what is this support system called under my home?

If it's nothing more then a wooden or LVL beam down the middle you have to dig out a low spot to get under it. It's done all the time.
Would be interesting to see how someone could fall through the floor.
If it's right in front of one of the doors it's because waters getting in under the threshold because the deck, stoop or stairs where not 4" below the threshold.

it is right in front of the door and the back door is the same way. the insurance guy said its wind driven rain into the threshold area, he said they see it all the time. the decking is rotton underneath this crisp vynal, any pressure after awhile its gotta crack somtime. This is supposed to be new vynal put in a 2011 home...I found out last tuesday my home is a 2006. Chip board or what ever you call it..its code.. will noy rot so completely in just a few months, unless completely submerged, if anything it would be maybe damp and swollen. just my opinionalso, that is a concrete wall under the studs...I dont know how far you could dig? if the engineer doesnt come up with a way to access that...i dont know ..i need all the info i can get..maybe a question for an attorney???

It's certainly worth a consultation with an Atty. right now. At the very pleased the builder misrepresented what he was selling you by telling you it was built in 2011 instead of 2006!

what is this support system called under my home?

i know its accessable....I just have to wait untill the warranty engineer tells me " i dont know ..sure am glad i brought my flashlight.." its just another part of the game i gotta play,I will have to get my own engineer, dont know how, one more bullet for my side...Question? Is it normal for a joist to just be nailed to the header? you can actually see it in the access pic..its on the right side. Also they sawed right through the 2 X 6's on the top and bottom of the access hole. I have chipboard, humping up inside my house, lol running perpendicular to the joist under the house. i have fresh water staining pics around my back door. its a mess and goes on and on.

I would sure be unhappy with only a single top plate on that foundation wall.

Especially when the joists don't fall over the cripples/studs................

Notice how rusty the nails are already in the treated lumber......
