what size and type window over tub/shower?

Like a million other older houses this one has tub on outside wall with a 30" wide and 38" high window now which happens to look onto a busy street.

Eventually it is going to get a ceramic tile surround on walls and a shower made out of this 'tub only' now. and yes I will use plastic vapor barrier, cement board then dittra or red guard. will slant what ever window sill on a 45* slant so no water can sit there, nor used for storage that might crack glass.

For now doing windows, doors, and siding on exterior. Want a window that will be above 6' or so to prevent view from outside(maybe few inches less okay) and stay above water line as much as possible. Vinyl to take moisture and indirect spray and opening for air etc.

What style and stock size available would work best?? How short do windows come?(standard 8' ceilings)

Not an answer to your window question, but you realize that this will give you a double vapor barrier.

Handful of tub tiling questions

I like to look outside as I shower, and also have ventilation. I installed a double hung window with white frosting (no shadow see-through). I lower the top section and leave the lower part closed. Watching the squirrels playing keeps showers from getting boring.

IF I put a all vinyl double hung window where the present wood one is. And a tension rod with a short plastic curtain over it for main direct spray. Will the vinyl window stand up to all the rest of the moisture????,,will it bleed excess water from the track to the outside??

I have my doubts about glass block and moisture issues. What about a "Pella" or equal window that has blinds within the glazing unit. At least then you have an insulated window unit that also serves as a blind.

Just a thought
