What is this mould?? Looking for advice

Hey there, I was wondering what the hell this mould is on the inside of my studio building?? I've never seen this kind of mould. It looks synthetic, and feels a bit like insulation, but it definitely seems to be some kind of mould.

I've started scraping it away, but I think I'm going to have to clean this wood, not to mention finding the leak...

Advice on what to do here would be great! The plan (before I encountered the mould) was to varnish the wood on the walls, and then add cement and mortar against it in order to sound proof the room. It's going to be a recording studio eventually, so sound proofing is a major priority!

Thanks a million for your help!

The yellow looks like spray foam insulation.
The white looks like mold which was most likely caused because your rim joist where not insulated.
No clue how you think cement and mortar are going to sound proof anything.
I would be using this in the joist bays.

Oh those links are excellent! Thanks a million.

The yellow looks like spray insulation? Well no one sprayed insulation there, I am assured! Any other ideas what it could be?

Well if that yellow stuff is mold or fungus you have some real issues with that house.
There would have to be some severe moisture issues.

Where not there to poke, test, feel so were just going have to guess.
May end up having to call in a real mold remediation company for this one.

I have never seen mold in that color or configuration, and I've seen plenty of mold. It looks more like some sort of sprayed on insulation product.
