Question

What to do with these steps???

I'm not very creative so my first thought was to just get more of the same indoor/outdoor carpet and replace what's there. My problem is that I don't really care for this look but I'm not sure what would look good so I'm looking for some ideas.

The steps are 2x6 planks and the top platform is 5/8 plywood. I'd rather not have to replace the whole steps(planks and plywood would be okay to replace) but rather find an option to reface whats there if that makes sense. The railings could stay or go depending on what you all can suggest.

Thanks.

If they are structurally sound you could always strip them and slap a coat of that "deck restore" stuff on them.

Thanks Pete,

That's not a bad idea and it crossed my mind but thought it might look funny with planks on the steps but sheet plywood for the deck. I'd probably just replace all the boards since the old ones are quite weathered and the previous owner used LOTS of glue for the old covering.

What's this "deck restore" stuff, more of a stain or a thick roll on coating?

Yes everything is structurally sound so I just need a nice cosmetic fix. Next year the house gets paint but first things first.

Much easier to replace than try to deal with that.
