What is this called?
Ok so i had this fabulous idea.... The wall that i want to tear down that goes in between the main living room and the covered portch is a load bearing wall. (no surprise there) but anyway i was looking around and stumbled completly by accident this awesome arch.
Anyway on the ad thing for this one it was WAY too tall and too wide. My walls are only 7ft high But i was thinking this would be a REALLY nice way to open it up and still support the roof. my question is i have tried like every combination of words to find something like this that i can use..... So what is the name of this wall arch thiny and where can i get one..... The first one i like the storage it provides but like the "body" of the second one better.

They were most likey removed from older homes being torn down for urban renewal. I've seen similar
arches as entries to living rooms/parlors from the main hall or as dividers between parlor and dining rooms. The first is a Tudor Arch, the second is Classical/Greek Revival. If you want something like this a good carpenter can build it from stock mill work and a few special order pieces the columns . Last edited by Zero Punch; 03-22-2007 at 10:14 AM. |
