What is the best filler between landscape blocks and the city sidewalk?
I'm building a freestanding non masonry retaining wall along the front face border of my property aligning the city sidewalk. The wall travels up a hill. Because each row of blocks is offset back a little (think of a pyramid), there is a triangular gap where every new row meets the sidewalk. What should I fill the void next to the sidewalk with? I am planning to pour some sand in the holes to level them up to a point and then top that off with some sealant or something. Any recommendations?
They make caps for the block to finish the last course and make the triangles disappear.
Maybe I'm not making myself clear enough here. The blocks meet the sidewalk at the bottom of the wall. Between the blocks and the concrete sidewalk are triangular holes going straight down (1" gaps). They don't hurt anything but they collect dirt, leaves and stuff and just look awkward.
I'll try to remember to take a photo when I get off work.
