Water leaking down outside concrete basement stairs
I have water running down my concrete basement stairs and into the basement. This is an older 1927 home. There is no drain at the bottom of the stairs either.
I would like to know how to fix this problem, HELP!
There is also nothing above these stairs to stop the water since the previous owners got rid of the porch.
The first stair leading into the basement is also at the same place/pitch as the driveway. The concrete isn't even pitched to help the water stay away from this area. If I put a porch on, that will only handle the problem of the water above the stairs, not what runs down the stairs from the driveway.
I would rather not build a porch on back either and have just a stair case above leading to the backyard. So I also need to know how or what I can put under these stairs so the water that runs off the stair planks goes down and away from the stairs.
I would like to have a better picture of what is the source of the problem.
Does the water down the stairs from the top of the stairs?
Does this only happen during severe weather events?
Has it been happening for a while?
How much water?
Until you get pics up, how about something like this:
basement water leakage
Thank you for your help. Yes water is coming down the stairs. It only happens during a huge rainfall so far. We just moved in so I don't know how long this has been going on. It was a forclosure so I didn't get any history on the house.
I did look at the storm celler doors, ty for that reply too. They don't have a dealer near me, so I will still look on the internet and I have to get a larger one becuase it has to cover the entire length of the basement stairway.
Thank you again for your replies and yes I will contact a plumber in the area and see what he suggests as well.
