Walls Open- New or Replacement Windows?

We're renovating our old kitchen and bathrooms and the drywall will be removed on exterior walls. Is it a good time to replace the windows? We're on a budget, but want to do things right. Can they be new construction windows or must they be replacement windows? We have aluminum siding.

If you're renovating, it's a good time to replace the windows, especially if you're using new construction windows. What you use will depend on the siding detail and how involved the process will be, along with what type windows you have now. If you have double hungs in place, with the aluminum right against the window, I'd go with replacement windows. You'll have a hard time getting aluminum siding to match what's currently on the house, if you can find it at all.
Post some photos of the exterior and the open walls.

If you use replacement windows it's a lot cheaper. They're are some very good replacement windows out there. New windows mean you have to rip out the old window and frame plus the siding around the outside. Alot more time/money and material.
