Wall access tips?
I am framing my basement and have come around to some items I need access to once the drywall goes up. Main water pipes, drain access, cables, telco system, ect. Anyhow what is the best way to leave easy access to these areas but not have it look like crap when its done? And no I am not doing a drop ceiling!

Thank you,

If you need to access on/off water switch which you need to turn on/off all in winter/summer time, I recommend you install those stronger metal door.

if you need to access those other things which you don't access them in a regular basics... those plastic white cover is the best... just cut out a smaller square hole in the drywall, then this cover insert into the hole with self mounting spring....

The Big home Improvement Stores (like HD) carry paintable, plastic, clipped, access doors. With these, all you have to do, is cut out an opening (that corresponds to the panel size) in the sheetrock, and insert the panel. Paint them the color of the wall or ceiling, and they blend in very nicely.

With the metal access doors, you need to frame in the opening, and use screws to mount the door. They remain very visible due to their design.

Nice Atlantic! I had no idea those even existed! That takes care of my problem as I have a few spots they would come in handy!:) I will already have the electrical box showing, which sucks. Wish that would of been installed on the other side of the house.
