Joe, isn't 18" a bit short? Usually the bottom of full height wall cabinets are set at 54" which is 18" above the countertop height. A gas range should be installed to manufacturer's specifications, the specs will indicate the clearance to a combustible surface above. I think that is usually 30" from the top of the gas range to the bottom of the cabinet above. What do you think?
