vinyl siding and trim around windows
I asked this question a couple of weeks ago, but want to provide a little more details so I'm sure (hopefully) I'll get it done the best way to keep water out.... The windows already have a 2" brick mold that sticks out from wall (kind of like a j-channel) http://www.plygemwindows.com/files/p...csheets/33.pdf
1.) Would you still recommend wrapping a 2x4 (or 1x4?) piece of wood versus using the 2 1/2" vinyl trim pieces (all four sides of window)? (I would rip the 2x4 down about 1" since I already have 2" trim on window) I should bend the aluminum out on the side away from the window to act as a flange (instead of both sides since the window has nail flange, was wrapped with tape, and has tyvek) Either way, I will have a "dead space" behind the brick mold.
2.) Should I use a drip cap above windows? (also creating a dead space behind brick mold.
3.) Should I use a piece of undersill trim at bottom of trim versus j-channel?
4.) If i use shutters instead of trim, will this make windows less water prone?
